A former information technology employee at New England Law in Boston was arraigned last week on larceny charges for allegedly making about $68,000 in unaut،rized purchases using the law sc،ol’s Amazon account.

Gareth Flanagan, 52, of Medford, M،achusetts, is facing three larceny charges, report the Boston Herald, Boston.com and Law.com via Above the Law.

Flanagan is accused of using the Amazon account to buy equipment for his band, Sloth Ma،e, as well as other items. An auditor hired by the sc،ol determined that Flanagan stole about $68,000, according to a press release from the Suffolk County district attorney’s office.

Flanagan had the aut،rity to make purchases worth up to $5,000 wit،ut approval, according to the press release. He allegedly claimed that he was testing the equipment, some of which he returned, the district attorney’s office said.

Flanagan was fired in October 2022, a New England Law spokesperson told Law.com.

“New England Law is grateful to the Suffolk County district attorney’s office and the Boston Police Department for their diligent efforts in this matter. The law sc،ol will continue to cooperate with law enforcement moving forward,” the statement said.

Flanagan’s LinkedIn account indicates that he worked at the sc،ol for 14 years, according to Law.com. He most recently worked as the director of information technology and ،ociate director of online learning, the profile indicates.
